A Single Mother with a Dream

Xtyle It is a small clothing business started by a single mother name Marcie raising two kids on her own. Although she remarried years later she never asked for support on her kids since in her belief, her kids-her responsibility. Unsatisfied with her 9 - 5 job. Feeling insufficient, especially during the pandemic. Initiating a hypothetical concern; what if this pandemic takes longer than expected? A need to do more and should do more for her future. She confided to her daughter (Itzel) bluntly she wished to have a clothing business. The daughter instantly took it as a bluff. A week later, Marcie presented a a business license physically. Now the daughter sees it as no bluff and becomes a huge part of the A Mother and Daughter business. For years, they have sold and tried to expand their business in various ways, including attending small pop-up markets, swap meets, and selling behind people's backyards, as well as advertising on Instagram and Facebook.
At one point, they invited other small businesses to collaborate on a pop-up event held in their backyard. They distributed handmade flyers by dropping them off at neighbors’ doorsteps in hopes of a strong turnout. While they were fortunate to have a large, supportive family, attendance consisted mainly of family members and a few friends. From the neighborhood, only two out of approximately fifty neighbors stopped by. The slow days led to moments of second-guessing. Eventually, Marcie found a small container space available for rent, located about 30 minutes from home.
Marcie came though a small container available to rent out 30 minutes from home. Itzel and Marcie went to check it out, disappointed was filled in Marcie's expectations. Itzel on the other hand saw an opportunity and persuaded Marcie they can make it work. 4 years later now still a tenant in that container located at Steelcraft Garden Grove. Hosting pop up markets and attending others as vendor to this day.
